Focus on Rest - 13th July
Shinzen Young's Home Practice Programme - Retreat
Learn how to find/create pleasant restful states in all three sensory categories: visual, auditory, and somatic.
If you say “meditation” to the average person, they will probably get the mental image of someone sitting cross-legged on the floor trying to mellow out and release stress. Many – perhaps even most – traditional forms of meditation involve focusing on such simple, soothing experiences. There is a good reason for that. It creates a positive feedback loop; the more you concentrate on soothing rest, the more soothing it becomes, thereby motivating you to concentrate even more. This positive learning loop creates snowballing growth in your concentration power. Restful states are frequently present in daily life, but most people fail to notice and enjoy them.
This program will explore visual, auditory and somatic rest so it becomes more accessible for you.

Death as a Transformation: Exploring Death, Grief and Love - 9th June
Shinzen Young's Home Practice Programme - Retreat
In our journey through life, death and dying are inevitable companions, integral to the human experience. While often feared and avoided, they hold profound significance in shaping our understanding of existence. By embracing the reality of death, we can embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, growth, and acceptance.
In this program, we will explore death and grief. Through a blend of techniques and guidance, we will delve into the depths of our mortality and the transformative nature of death; engage with our bodies, emotions, and thoughts as we navigate the complexities of loss and change. Discover the potential for healing, growth, and profound connection as we honor the sacredness of life and death together in this practice.
