People often ask me, ‘how do I start learning Mindfulness?’, ‘how do I go about it?’ ‘What are the beginning steps?’ There are a lot of questions when starting out. The first thing I would say is, you need to find a competent coach, one who can show you the way. Address any misunderstandings and show you how to practice to develop your Mindfulness skills. Secondly you need to put in the time and effort. Like learning any new skills you have to put in the time and the effort in order to see the results.
When I first started I was curious what Meditation, Mindfulness was all about. As I continued my journey and my practised deepened, I slowly began to see results. The time and effort I had put in practising start to come into fruition.
People ask me these days “how do I begin?”, “how do I learn Mindfulness?”, start practising and see where it takes you, put on your running shoes. The idea of jogging, running to keep fit is great, the real work is in the actual doing and when you start doing the work you start to see the benefits and the horizon opens.
